The Fun in the Ride
We hit the pavement that day knowing the fun was always in the ride. Shred sledding had been our thing now for as long as I could remember. On a rainy day, it was the only way to slip and slide. There was something to be said about performing an ollie or attempting a 900 on nothing more than a wooden board, its wheels and a best mate by your side. The rain would be no hindrance for either of us today. Board-riders had a persistence and determination to see it through - skating the rims of the pavement, feet stuck like glue. Using my foot as a propeller to gather speed, Rocco sidewalk surfed with me as we headed towards the hill. His friendship was as stable as the board beneath me had always been, it would stay until the wheels were ready to fall off.
