Ambling down the street of cobblestone that paved her way, Lily cradled the tower of books stacked in her arms. Each one slightly aged & worn yet still colourful enough to pique her interest from the choices she had made. Many hours had vanished while she'd been held in the library's embrace, losing herself among its shelves, wondering at what secrets or promise of escape she would find today. As she stumbled slightly on the uneven stones beneath her feet, the books wobbled precariously, it reminded her that the weight she carried was like the balance much needed in life, heaviness and joy.

Arriving home at last, she buried herself in her favourite chair, tucked under the warmth of the window. Using the light of day, she opened a book and read from its first page, allowing the world outside to just simply fade away, letting those sweet words sooth her & warm her inside.....here she belonged, here she would stay, this would be Lily's reminder, the remains of today.
