Elemental

For any great story to work, it’s various elements must find a way to successfully interact. This captivating movie explores the dance between two of those elements:fire and water, moving each beyond their usual limit of extinguishing one or washing away the other. It is this different and unique type of chemistry that showcases the potential to create something extraordinary. The story of Elemental revolves around Ember, a hot-tempered girl with gifts that can mold & temper glass. However, her uncontrollable emotions cause her to rupture the pipes in her father’s shop, which brings in the attention of the city inspector, Wade. Wade is the Yang of Embers Yin, cool, calm & collected, but also determined to find the source of the leak that has been flooding Firetown. The two join forces& a romance quickly begins, it goes against the beliefs that fire & water simply always react& can never attract or combine. While traditionally seen to be opposing forces, the characters of Ember (fire) and Wade(water) present to us a challenge that asks to find a way; to merge the two, for it is only through interdependence that leads to the tempering of glass, that can instead build something beautiful and new. Both water and fire possess an immense power, that has capacity to destroy and create. In Elemental, the convergence between the two reveals a special kind of magic. When the cooling water soothes the intensity of the burning fire, so does the heat of the flames impart a gentle warmth that adds to the flow of the water, causing both to softly bubble and crackle to the surface. The movie delves into the very heart of each element, uncovering the remarkable potential each has to transform & complement the other. Although each has a spirit of its own, water and fire - Wade & Ember, can do much more than simply coexist. They bring a wave of delight to the audience and obviously sparked a flame for the inspiration of the Disney & Pixar writers.
